What's Up Kinnernet List. Connecting Geeks. |
Purpose
The What's Up Kinnernet SMS list enables sharing of tips and event impressions, in real time,
in the chaotic Kinnernet environment, between individual cellular owners using SMS (texting).
The list is informal and will tend to focus on non-centric events, and on personal impressions.
Requirements
You
need a cellphone with an Israeli
number.
How do I get on the
list?
Send SMS to 1315 with these
keywords:
knsign on signs you on
knsign off signs you off

list
kn name [name]

names)
kn mute temp unsub
kn loud re-sub after mute
Rules of
conduct
No
foul language, abuse, etc. - be kind. Remember, nobody is anonymous
on this list, and disagreements
between you and the list
will be settled in
person(s).
List language is English,
please, to accomodate out-of-country carbon
and silicon.

"Ice cream is melting", or
"X's lecture is wild", or "Y event is
cancelled/moved", or "My panel on
subject A starts in 15 in room B",
would make
legitimate
messages.
The What's Up Kinnernet SMS list is not "official" - do not count on it to regularly provide reminders/alerts from the core group. Get a life.
Type
Anyone-to-all. Any list member
can send, all receive (think
unmoderated mailing
list).
Lifecycle
The
What's Up Kinnernet SMS list will operate during the Kinnernet
event only.
Phone
number list will be destroyed after the
event.
No opt-out during the event -
sorry, this is a "zero admin" operation. See
below.
How much does this cost?
Being on the What's Up Kinnernet list will cost you 0.50 NIS (~US$ 0.12) per MSG received.
Every message you send costs people money - make it worth half a shekel!
This model was
chosen because other models did not evaluate well and did not
optimize agility.
A regular SMS costs 0.35 NIS - so we're making some change on you -
Kinnernet now has a revenue
model!
